bij de HerHer wel hoor... Ik heb het nog nooit geprobeerd uit liefde en respect voor mijn schoonfamilie, maar ik ben toch benieuwd wat de koster zou doen als ik op korte broek en teenslippers binnen zou komen.

Tsja, streng gereformeerden/gergemmers... voor mij de Christelijke stroming die het verst af is afgedwaald van wat ik lees in de Bijbel. Van een positief boek (Evangelie = het goede nieuws) wordt een inktzwarte boodschap van doem en verderf gemaakt. Het is niet eens zozeer dat het me niet aanspreekt, maar dat ik niet begrijp hoe je dat zo kunt interpreteren. En ja, ik heb er een uitgebreide uitleg over gelezen, maar dat zegt me vooral dat er aan bepaalde passages een enorm gewicht wordt toegekend terwijl de algehele context en de meerderheid van positieve schriftplaatsen enigszins onder het tapijt wordt geschoven.

Maar goed, wie ben ik uiteraard.

Ik weet overigens niet precies welke gereformeerde stromingen zo negatief zijn en welke minder, het is een beetje onoverzichtelijk. Wat hebben die dekselse Protestanten er toch een puinhoop van gemaakt

De Bijbel is niet alleen Evangelie Ik begrijp niet hoe je het Licht kunt zien wanneer je niet begrijpt dat het zonder God doem en verderf is. Het probleem is dan ook meer dat men heel druk bezig is om die kant zo goed mogelijk uit de verf te laten komen, terwijl het mij (met jou en vele anderen) belangrijker lijkt om de mensen op de Christus te wijzen.

Dat eerste is zeker waar, maar het Evangelie is wel een cruciaal deel van de Bijbel. Maar goed, dat zul je onderschrijven.

Ik ben het 100% eens met je post. Ik vind het vooral erg jammer dat er minder nadruk wordt gelegd op het Goede Nieuws, dat zorgt toch voor een hoop depressieve Christenen vrees ik. Terwijl we juist de opdracht hebben dat deel van de Bijbel uit te dragen.

Waarschijnlijk wel, de meeste reformatorische kerken die vrij strikt zijn mbt. hoofdbedekking voor vrouwen hebben ook wel wat hoedjes liggen voor gasten.

Wat betreft korte broek en slippers, ik hoop dat men daarin gastvrij genoeg is om daar niets over tegen gasten te zeggen. Al wordt dat anders als het om regelmatige gasten of leden gaat. Daar mag je een bekendheid met en respect voor de opvattingen omtrent kleding verwachten.

Omdat Christus voor ons heeft geleden en is gestorven, omdat wij nog steeds weer zondigen en vallen en God daarmee elke keer weer verdriet doen, omdat niet iedereen behouden zal worden en Gods Woord wil aannemen, omdat het leven geen lolletje is en een pessimistische kijk op zaken stukken realistischer is dan een optimistische, omdat onze samenleving steeds verder af komt te staan van haar christelijke verleden, er nog velen zijn die dwalen, ook zij die zichzelf als christelijk zien en ga zo maar door.

Het verlossend werk van Christus is wat mij betreft primair een zaak waar wij dankbaar voor mogen zijn (als het ook voor ons is), niet iets van blijdschap.

Volgens mij komt die manier van spreken van de dominee vanuit een besef van waar hij het over heeft. Wat mij in dat vermoeden sterkt is dat jij het wel qua inhoud met hem eens bent, maar de vorm lachwekkend/dramatisch vindt. Niet dat ik dit bedoel als een verwijt, maar toch een beetje uitleggen.

De hel is niet normaal, dat is verschrikkelijk, en wie dat beseft kan dat ook niet op een 'normale' manier brengen. Sowieso is het raar als je dus de kinderen ergens op aanspreekt en hier nonchalant bij praat, dan creëer je een tegenstrijdige boodschap. Zeker kinderen en jongeren zijn daar gevoelig voor. En het is zeker ook wel bedoeld om een vorm van vrees bij te brengen, zoals Machovelli zegt. Als de hel niet iets angstaanjagend is of op zijn minst hoogstens onwensbaar, is de noodzaak tot je heil zoeken in Jezus ook niet te hoog.

Nu ben ik benieuwd of een gereformeerde mij duidelijk kan maken waarom dit enorme aantal schriftplaatsen genegeerd zou moeten worden.

Niet letterlijk uiteraard, maar je begrijpt wat ik bedoel, waarom zou je niet blij moeten zijn maar zwaarmoedig in het Christelijk geloof? Hoewel de Schrift ons vertelt dat vreugde een van de vruchten van de Geest is, dat geloof vreugde met zich meebrengt, dat we blij moeten zijn met de komst en het offer van de Christus?

Dat beweer ik ook niet, je maakt een stropop van mijn standpunt en valt dat vervolgens aan.

ik had het al veranderd.. maar je haalt wel een hele hoop bijbelteksten aan en zegt vervolgens dat een gereformeerde maar moet aangeven waarom dat genegeerd zou moeten worden. Dat wijst erop dat je blijkbaar denkt dat DE gereformeerde van mening is dat je die teksten zou moeten negeren..

Nu weer wegge-edit. Ik spraak nadrukkelijk over streng gereformeerden en gergemmers, niet over DE gereformeerden in het algemeen, dus je kritiek lijkt me niet op zijn plaats.

Het gaat dan dus alleen om bevindelijk gereformeerden? Ik doel op streng gereformeerden en gergemmers, ik weet niet hoe bevindelijk gereformeerden te categoriseren zijn. Ik dacht dat die voornamelijk wat meer filosofisch van aard zijn en niet zo zeer zwartgalliger, Harm-Jan heeft er een paar interessante topics over geopend in het verleden maar de inhoud daarvan is me grotendeels ontschoten.

Mij was duidelijk dat het om een specifieke groep gereformeerden (de bevindelijken) ging en dat Light ook uit die hoek een verklaring zocht. Natuurlijk was het correcter geweest als we hadden gesproken over bevindelijk-gereformeerden of reformatorischen, maar ik denk niet dat hier iemand de intentie had iedereen die gereformeerd kan genoemd worden over een kam te scheren.
