Is Mumford & Sons christelijk?

Hoi allen,

Ik zit met een vraag waar ik zo niet direct het antwoord op weet te vinden. Ik vind de teksten van de band Mumford & Sons redelijk christelijk. Bijvoorbeeld het nummer 'Roll away your stone':

De laatste paar regels heb ik eerder als onderschrift gehad. Als ze niet al christelijk zijn, zijn ze zeker toepasbaar. Ik denk dat M&S of dankbaar gebruik maakt van christelijke thematiek of zelf christelijk is of christelijke wortels heeft. Al wordt dat niet vermeld op hun site noch op Wikipedia.

De zanger heeft een christelijke opvoeding gehad, zijn ouders waren de oprichters van de vineyard beweging in Engeland. Hij gelooft wel in God maar ziet zich zelf niet als Christen. Jezus is voor hem nog steeds belangrijk, op de manier hou moslims Jezus ook ervaren. Lekker vaag dus

Band is niet Christelijk, misschien Christelijk geïnspireerd?

Ik denk dat een goede tekstschrijver al snel naar bijbelse / religieuze termen grijpt. Ik ben zelf helemaal geen gelovig iemand, maar als ik schrijf, merk ik dat ik dat ik heel makkelijk terugval op bijbelse teksten.

In de biografie van Lennaert Nijgh vertelt hij hoe hij samen met Belinda Meuldijk het lied een lied schrijft voor Rob de Nijs. Ze komen niet uit het refrein, en om inspirtaie op te doen zegt hij letterlijk: "Ik pak het kookboek erbij dat doet ome Bob (Dylan) ook". Uit psalm 10 vers 1 haalt hij de zin "Alles wat ademt love de heer", wat uiteindelijk de zin "Laat alles wat ademt in vrede bestaan" oplevert

Nu denk ik dat Mumford & sons niet te vergelijken is met Rob de Nijs, en mijn bescheiden persoon niet met Lennaert Nijgh, maar de taal van de bijbel is in staat om heel krachtige beelden op te roepen.

Dus ik denk dat niet christelijke tekstschrijver heel religieus over kunnen komen.

Verder, Ursa, alsik naar hun lied 'The Cave' kijk, krijg ik die neiging ook. Das overigens de enige van hun waar ik iets mee heb hoor, zo goed ken ik de band niet.
